Bridge courses are organized at the beginning of every academic year to bridge the gap between the learning and teaching methodologies from school to college. A separate syllabus is followed for the bridge course with fundamentals of basic subjects. Communication also seems to be a barrier at the beginning of college education since the students enroll from rural and urban areas. The basic skills that the students learn from the bridge course would help the students to recollect and prepare themselves for best understanding of core courses.

  PG & Research Department of English, Arignar Anna college (Arts & Science), offers Bridge course for all the discipline first year students. The fIfteen days of bridge course is been offered as regular programme. This programme helps the students to learn English language for effective communication. The teacher acts as a facilitator helping the students to improve language acquisition for twenty days. The faculty members of Department of English produce a Bridge course material for all first year students. The exercises of bridge course facilitate self-learning and build confidence level in LSRW skills which are important for the learning of English language. Bridge course including various major subject activities that induce interactions and discussions among students to express themselves freely in English. Thus, Bridge course proves to be the best opportunity for the students to adapt themselves to the new academic and social environment.
